The Ranching community has been struggling for some time. While it’s good news that prices appear to be firming up, the industry has multiple challenges that need to be addressed to ensure it will continue to be a viable industry for generations to come. Recently, I supported the BCCA’s submission to government asking for an Agri-Recovery Program. Alberta and Saskatchewan have similar programs.
I’ve also been working with the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Cariboo Regonial District and the Cariboo-Chilcotin Cattlemen’s Association to ensure we follow thru on the lessons learned from last year’s fire season. My other priority is to get funding restored to the predator control program for our region.
